Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) in New Delhi is a government-run medical institute that started in 2008 with a focus on postgraduate education. The institute expanded to include the MBBS program in 2019. Located in the bustling area of Connaught Place, ABVIMS is integrated with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. It offers a variety of programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty courses in medicine. The institute is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). ABVIMS provides courses like MBBS, MD, MS, DM, M.Ch, and DNB. Upon completing the 5.5-year MBBS program, which includes a compulsory one-year internship, students become eligible for employment. During the internship, a stipend ranging from INR 24,000 to INR 30,000 per month is provided. After graduation and internship, most students find placement in either government or private hospitals with a starting monthly salary of about INR 1,00,000.
