

BITS Pilani, officially known as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, is a private deemed university that was set up in 1964 in Rajasthan. It is among the first six institutions in India to be recognized as an Institution of Eminence by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and it also holds an A++ accreditation from NAAC. For B.Tech in 2025, BITS Pilani topped the rankings in India by TOI and was placed 8th by Collegedunia. It was also ranked 20th by NIRF and 1st by IIRF for B.Tech in 2024. The Pilani campus spans 328 acres and includes 11 hostels for boys and a dedicated hostel complex for girls. The primary courses at BITS Pilani include BE, MBA, and ME, in addition to offering M.Sc, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and PhD programs. The first-year fee for BE is INR 6.04 Lakhs, while for ME it ranges between INR 5.72 Lakhs and INR 6.04 Lakhs. Admission into BITS Pilani is decided through merit in exams like BITSAT, BITS HD, BAAT, and national-level exams such as GATE, GPAT, and CAT, followed by counseling or interviews. The BITSAT cutoff for B.Tech in 2024 for the General Category was between 238 and 327. In the 2025 placements, the highest package for MBA reached INR 21.6 LPA, with an average package of INR 14.45 LPA. As per BITS NIRF Report 2025, for B.Tech in 2024, the median package was INR 18 LPA. Media reports also highlight an 11% rise in placements in 2025, with 2,379 offers across all campuses. The median salary went up by 14%, from INR 17 LPA in 2024 to INR 19.4 LPA in 2025, and the average CTC increased by 16% to INR 22 LPA. According to G Balasubramanian, BITS Pilani’s chief placement officer, the top offer in 2025 saw a 44% increase from the previous year. Over 250 top companies like Accenture, Google, and Microsoft participated in the BITS Pilani Placement 2025.
