National Institute of Design, commonly known as NID, was established in March 2006 and is located in Yeshwanthpur, Karnataka. It’s recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. NID Bangalore was developed through a partnership between the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. In 2024, it was ranked second in India for design by IIRF. The institute provides a Master of Design (M.Des) degree with specializations in Design for Retail Experience, Digital Game Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, and Universal Design. The M.Des program is available in five areas of specialization with admission reliant on the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), which consists of Prelims and Mains. The total course fee for this 2.5-year program at NID Bangalore is INR 11.43 Lakhs.
