The Faculty of Medical Sciences, under the prestigious University of Delhi, is a dream destination for medical aspirants across India. It isn't a single college but a faculty governing some of the nation's top government medical institutions, including Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), and Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC). These colleges consistently feature in the top tier of national rankings. For instance, in the NIRF 2023 rankings, LHMC stood at 31st, MAMC at 32nd, and UCMS at 36th position among medical colleges in India, a testament to their academic and clinical excellence. For students targeting admissions for the 2025-26 academic year, the primary offering is the highly sought-after MBBS program, alongside various postgraduate (MD/MS) and super-speciality courses. Admission to the MBBS course is extremely competitive and is based solely on the scores obtained in the NEET UG examination. The seat allocation is managed through the centralised counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for both the All India Quota and the Delhi University Quota. Being government-funded institutions, the fees are incredibly nominal, with the annual tuition fee for the MBBS program being approximately INR 10,000 to INR 15,000. After completing the 4.5-year academic course, students undergo a mandatory one-year paid rotatory internship at associated premier hospitals like Lok Nayak and GTB Hospital. While official figures for 2025-26 are yet to be announced, the current monthly stipend for interns is around INR 26,300. This hands-on training provides immense clinical exposure, and graduates are highly regarded for postgraduate studies or for recruitment as medical officers in various healthcare settings.
