Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences, commonly known as KIMS Karwar, was established in 2016 and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences (RGUHS). This institute offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses, as well as degrees in paramedical fields. Each year, KIMS Karwar admits 150 students into its MBBS program through NEET UG scores. For this, candidates must have secured 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their 10+2 exams. For postgraduate MD/MS courses, applicants need NEET PG scores, with a criterion of 55% in MBBS plus a year of compulsory internship. For MBBS admissions, 15% of the seats are reserved for the All India Quota and the remaining 85% for State Quota admissions. NEET UG is accepted for MBBS admissions, with MCC handling counselling for All India Quota and KEA for State Quota. Similarly, for MD/MS programs, 50% of the seats are reserved for both the All India and State Quota through NEET PG. Candidates must register via the NTA website, followed by submitting documents and paying the registration fee. Karwar Institute uses MCC and KEA for counselling processes, conducting four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The cutoff for each year varies based on multiple factors like exam difficulty and the number of exam takers. In the MBBS program, candidates completing the course undergo a compulsory internship with a monthly stipend of INR 30,000. Scholarship opportunities are also available for reserved categories and financially weak students, with support from state and central government schemes like Post Matric Scholarship and Vidyasiri Karnataka Scholarship.
