Guru Gobind Singh Medical College & Hospital (GGSMCH) in Faridkot is a well-established government medical college, founded in 1973. Affiliated with the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, it has earned a strong reputation over the decades. The college is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and secured the 40th position among medical institutions in India in the 2023 NIRF rankings, making it a top choice for aspiring doctors in the region. The college primarily offers the undergraduate MBBS program, along with postgraduate MD/MS courses in various specialities. Admission to the MBBS program is highly competitive and is based solely on your NEET UG score, with counselling conducted by BFUHS for both the State Quota and All India Quota seats. As a government institution, the fees are quite reasonable. While the exact fee structure for the 2025-2026 batch is yet to be announced, students in the previous batch paid approximately INR 1.73 lakhs for the first year. Unlike engineering colleges, medical colleges do not have a traditional placement season. Instead, after completing the 4.5-year MBBS course, students undertake a mandatory one-year paid rotating internship at the attached hospital, which provides excellent hands-on clinical experience. The stipend for the 2025-2026 internship period has not been declared, but currently, interns receive around INR 18,000 per month. This compulsory training prepares graduates for postgraduate studies or to begin their careers as medical professionals in the government or private sector.
