The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Kokrajhar was established in 2006 and operates as a centrally funded institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is an autonomous entity registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, and has recognition from both UGC and AICTE. In the 2021 rankings by NIRF, CIT Kokrajhar was positioned 251st among 300 engineering colleges. At CIT Kokrajhar, the BTech program is the most prominent offering. For admission, candidates need at least 45% aggregate marks in their 10+2 exams, although this requirement is relaxed to 40% for reserved category students. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be part of the subjects studied. Admission is finalized based on scores from either the JEE Mains or the Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar Entrance Examination (CITKEE) 2025. In terms of seat allocation, 60% are reserved for CITKEE qualifiers, and the remaining 40% for those who have cleared JEE Main. The 2025 cutoff for BTech admissions in the general category through JEE Main ranges from ranks 50806 to 80297. The BTech course fee is set at INR 1.81 lakhs for all specializations offered. In the 2023-24 placement season, 59 BTech students from CIT Kokrajhar were successfully placed. The highest package offered was INR 6.5 LPA, with a median package of INR 4 LPA. Recruiters included notable companies like Amul, Pie Infocomm, Corizo Edutech, EdiGlobe, TCS, and CDAC Noida.
