Nehru Institute of Technology, established in 2008, is a private self-financed technical institution. Part of the Nehru Group of Educational & Charitable Trust, which has been dedicated to higher education for four decades, NIT marks a significant milestone within Nehru's educational initiatives. Approved by AICTE in New Delhi, NIT is affiliated with Anna University in Chennai. The institute houses a variety of departments, including Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics and Electronics Engineering, Business Administration, and Science & Humanities. In the placement drive of 2013-14, several companies recruited students from NIT. Among them, Tech Mahindra hired 163 students, followed by India Health Solutions with 54, and Serco with 38 recruits. Additionally, companies like Vee Technologies, Dicom, and Tata Tele Services offered placements to a significant number of students. Besides academics, NIT encourages extracurricular activities such as paper presentations and sports. The institution's library, spread over 440 square meters, boasts 22,363 books with 6,030 titles and subscribes to various newspapers and journals. NIT provides separate hostels for boys and girls equipped with modern amenities, a well-equipped auditorium, a seminar hall with a 250-person capacity, and facilities for indoor and outdoor sports. Moreover, students can engage in clubs like the Robotic Club, Mini Project Club, and Aeromodelling Club, fostering a vibrant student life and promoting diverse interests beyond the classroom.
