Vellore Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as VIT or VIT University, is a prestigious private research university founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College. It earned university status in 2001. VIT has five campuses: VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT AP, VIT Bhopal, and VIT Bangalore. Notably, VIT Vellore is recognized by the UGC and boasts an A++ accreditation from NAAC. In 2024, it ranked 11th for B.Tech and 19th overall.
