

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), a private deemed university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, began its journey in 1988 as a dental college. By 2005, it had evolved into a university. Currently, SIMATS has 16 colleges that provide a wide range of courses in fields such as medicine, dentistry, engineering, law, management, and allied health sciences across two campuses: Poonamallee and Thandalam. Recognized by UGC, AICTE, and NMC, the university boasts an A++ grade from NAAC. In the NIRF 2025 rankings, it placed 2nd in Dental and 23rd overall in India. SIMATS offers a variety of programs, including MBBS, BDS, B.Tech, B.Sc, MBA, M.Sc, and Ph.D. courses. The popular specializations for B.Tech include Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and Information Technology. To gain admission into the B.Tech programs, students need 75% in their class 12 exams and should qualify for JEE Main or TNEA counseling. For MBBS and BDS, candidates need to achieve 50% in class 12 and clear NEET scores through MCC counseling. Courses like B.Sc and B.Com are based on merit scores. In 2024, 430 students were eligible for placements at SIMATS, and 275 secured jobs, earning a median salary of 7.5 LPA, according to NIRF reports. The placement records over the years show that in 2021-22, 316 students found employment with a median salary of 9.3 LPA, while in 2022-23, 351 students were placed with a median of 7.43 LPA. Major recruiters include Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Max Healthcare, Cipla, and Piramal Enterprises.
